Communication
Everything we do in life requires communication. Strong communication skills, both written and oral, are essential to any relationship. Efficient and effective communication between individuals in an organization is the key to success.
What I've done
By working and studying in the CBE at Towson University, I have been able to improve both my writing and presentations skills. One example of my written skills is my contribution the monthly newsletter distributed to CBE students: CBE Connect. I was tasked with directing, writing and editing the newsletter for the fall semester 2014. The newsletter provides students with insightful articles that pertain to their academic and professional lives. Please click the link below to see the latest edition.
CBE Connect
What it means to me
Holding this responsibility meant a lot to me. When I first came to the main campus, I was not very confident with my writing. I enrolled in BUSX 301, a writing intensive core course, without knowing what to expect. It was the hardest course I'd ever taken, and it constantly challenged me week after week. Little by little, through the past two years my writing has improved to a great extent, and I have found a passion in it that I would have never imagined. To know that I have the ability to oversee a project of this importance makes me feel very accomplished.
Where it leads me
This has led me to pursue my passion for writing in my personal life. I now write weekly in a personal blog where I explore my interests about food, makeup, books and other lifestyle bits. Strengthening my communication skills has been the biggest challenge in my academic career, but now I am confident that I can add value to a company by being a proactive communicator between the company and its clients. In addition, I am fluent in spanish, english and progressing in portuguese, and this will allow me communicate in a global environment as well.
Please continue with my second KSA, Critical and Creative Thinking.
