Critical and Creative Thinking
Critical and Creative thinking drives generation of new ideas. It is essential that we carefully analyze and evaluate our thought processes in order to avoid bias and create new valuable outlooks by utilizing qualitative and quantitative tools. This way, we can reach thought out conclusions that help us solve complex problems, and help us to then communicate those solutions to others.
What I've done In the Spring 2014 I worked closely with my team when we were tasked by our International Marketing professor, to create a marketing plan for a new product, and "launch it" in the North Africa region. We chose to create a solar powered external charger called PowerPort that would be launched in Morocco. We conducted an economic analysis, a market audit and competitive market analysis and made projections for success. Please see the document on the right. |

What it means to me
This project presented a great challenge, simply because of the lack of information about the market. I was urged to dig and find alternative ways of finding relevant information, and it taught me not to rely on Google 100% of the time. Upon the completion of this complex assignment I knew that creating a Marketing Plan in less than favourable circumstances was possible. Financial projections were particularly challenging and required me to apply knowledge learned in previous courses, therefore turning the project extremely educational.
Where it leads me
Thinking critically and creatively is a necessity in the creation of marketing and business plans. I understand and can utilize quantitative and qualitative tools to create compelling alternatives, apply my cross disciplinary knowledge to choose the most effective and efficient option, and communicate the reasoning to my peers. These capabilities give me a problem-solving attitude that will benefit your company.
